Well Hello,
This is new for me. It feels really strange for me to be connecting with customers I don’t know anything about. Amazon and the other book-selling sites don’t even tell us where you live let alone your name. As someone who started life behind a shop counter, it feels very strange.
The nature of the job makes it even harder, to know and understand my reader would be so helpful, Add in the fact that being and author can be very lonely. I love people and spending time with them, but writing is not something I can do in company. My characters take over my brain enough.
So what can I tell you about me?
No, I am not one of those people who had dreamed of writing a book from childhood. I enjoyed writing stories, I didn’t like how hard I found it to spell those words! Passing my o-level English was a huge challenge. In fact, I sat the exam so often that eventually I recognised the questions and did quite well in the end.
I liked to read but I also wanted to be outside usually doing something with friends or animals. Although I love dogs and was the typical pony mad girl when I was younger I do love all animals.
I started my working life at a time when it was assumed you would have one job for life, and I never questioned that until much later in my life and I wonder what my life would be like if I had realised how inspiring a change could be.
After what was a total burnout I started life again first by working with my husband in the stationery business and falling in love with papercraft so much that I became a stamp designer selling my work all over the world. This is when I appeared on shopping TV (Presenting with Daniel).
Whilst I was in my craft shop I started to play with some characters and developed a set of four girls, friends in one small town. That was fifteen years ago, and I still have to write their story. After 10 years I did start to write but then realised how much I needed to learn about publishing. That made me sit down and write a book during NaNoWriMo. A quick book I didn’t care about, I called it my learning.
Yeah right! That was Batting for Charlie and of course, I fell totally in love with both Charlie and India, and three books in that world.
It brings me up to date as I try to finish the four stories in the Love Comes with the Job set.
Now tell me what else you would like to know. What would do want me to tell you more about.
